Every year, based on the prior year’s fundraising efforts, we determine how much money we can give out for the school year. Some of the money raised goes toward scholarships and other ongoing annual things and the remaining amount is divided evenly between each grade level and the subjects of Music, Art, Technology, Home and Careers, Guidance, School Nurse, Library, and Physical Education.
Based on what we have earned, teams are given an amount to spend, and can request funds at any time. We ask that teachers talk with the team before requesting funds, so that each team member is aware of how PTO money will be spent. At the end of the school year, any funds not used will roll into our general operating funds and we begin again with a new number the following year, again based on the year’s fundraising efforts.
Our funding level for 2016-2017 is $500 per grade level and $150 for EACH special area listed above. This figure is based on last year’s earnings and any rollover available. The PTO also funds things like scholarships, books for community read, Discovery Trail experiences and more.
